Exactly 30 anniversary after the first Toy Story movie debuted, launching the animation giant as a leading animation studio and introducing viewers to beloved characters like the cowboy doll (Tom Hanks) and the space ranger (Tim Allen), who are now famous worldwide.

Coming in 2026, the next chapter is set to arrive. The first teaser trailer for Toy Story 5 appeared recently, offering a glimpse into the plot but leaving viewers wondering how it will resolve the conclusion of Toy Story 4.

Bonnie's New Toy: A Frog-Shaped Tablet Frightens the Toys

The preview reveals the young girl — who inherited Andy's toys when he grew up — getting a brand new toy, one that alarms Woody, Buzz, and the crew. She acquires her first tablet computer, and she is excited about it.

Presumably, the amphibian-inspired device will animate just like the rest of her playthings. However, the characters appear to consider it as a danger coming to replace them, which it likely will.

The Cowboy's Comeback: Unanswered Questions from Toy Story 4

One thing the teaser doesn't touch on is why Woody is back with his friends in the child's bedroom. The finale of Toy Story 4 saw him embark on a new adventure with the shepherdess (the actress), traveling with a carnival and assisting prize toys find good homes.

Certainly, the filmmakers will explain the consequences of Toy Story 4 in the movie. Seeing him appear in Bonnie's room without warning is a little strange, however. It also raises questions whether his partner will have come back with him. And what about the stuntman toy (the star)?

Continuity from the Previous Film

Fortunately, some elements are carrying over from the prior film. The last thing Woody did before setting off for his fresh path was pass his symbol of authority to Jessie (the voice actor), leaving her as the leader of the toy domain. In the teaser displays the badge pinned to her outfit.

Hopefully she is remains the key figure among the group.
