Close to 25,000 Left Without Electricity in South-East Queensland and Victorian Regions Following Severe Storms
Around 25,000 residences in southeastern Queensland were left lacking electricity on Monday's dawn after powerful weather events impacted the state, producing strong winds hitting 109km/h.
Substantial Hailstones and Broad Damage
Homeowners observed large ice chunks as large as seven centimeters in certain regions. Weather authorities confirmed that multiple regions across Queensland had been impacted by significant hail.

Emergency crews were focused on reestablishing power throughout the affected regions, with nearly 70 crews working to handle the numerous electricity disruptions.
Victorian Storm Challenges
Simultaneously, approximately 1,000 energy customers in the southern state also faced energy failures after the metropolitan area saw its wettest day in 18 months.
Emergency response teams received 598 calls for help across the state, primarily for property damage but also for downed trees and flooding.

- Werribee - experienced considerable destruction
- Hoppers Crossing suburb - multiple emergency calls
- Wyndham - over 175 emergency requests
During the peak on Sunday, in excess of 28,000 power users in the state were lacking electricity.
Meteorological Predictions
Damp conditions were predicted to continue along large portions of Queensland's east this next several days as a weather pattern continued to pull in damp air against the shoreline.
The following day was predicted as the wettest day, with persistent storm activity predicted across various areas of both regions.
Medical Alert
Public health experts warned that there was an greater possibility of epidemic thunderstorm asthma across the state's northern country region, specifically given the existing atmospheric conditions.
This warning comes after past events where comparable situations led to major medical consequences in the area.
